Moravian Candle Box, On-site Workshop

This event is no longer on sale.

Tuesday July 13

6:00 PM  –  8:00 PM

In this two-day class, you will build a beautiful traditional, Moravian candlebox from Old Salem’s collection with hand tools using centuries old techniques! We will have two original candle boxes from our collection for you to examine and photograph. Materials will be prepared from black walnut lumber that has been air dried here in Salem and included in the cost of the class. This workshop meets in-person, in the historic 1815 Blum House at Old Salem Museum & Gardens, located at 724 S. Main St. Winston Salem, NC 27101.

This is an intermediate or ambitious beginner level class for participants who want to learn to build a dovetail box with a sliding raised panel lid. Taking the May 25th dovetail class is suggested for anyone who has not cut and fit dovetails before.
