Old Salem Museums & Gardens is proud to present our Slip Trail Plates Workshop! In this program, guests will learn about one of Salem's most iconic trades! Get your hands on history and learn about different pottery designs and processes that put the potters of Salem on the map!

Enjoy decorating your very own slip-trail plate using the traditional techniques of Salem's potters! Participants will receive an unfinished clay plate to decorate and will be provided with all the tools and supplies for decoration. Learn the Moravian symbolism or make up your own! (We have spares if you make a few mistakes! Don't worry, the potters of Salem weren't perfect either!) Afterwards, we will fire your plates for you and coat them in a food-safe clear glaze for you to pick up 3 weeks later!**

Tickets include a demonstration of traditional slip decoration, their own unfinished Earthenware plate, and supplies for your very own, personalized plate! This workshop is suited for ages 13 and up. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult! Check-in for this program will be at the Single Brothers' Workshop, 10 W. Academy Street. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to allow time for check-in!

**Traditional Earthenware pottery is low-fired and not intended for the dishwasher or microwave! These plates are hand-wash only with soap and warm water! Finished pottery can be picked up at the Visitor Center within 3-6 weeks of the workshop!
