Professional Photographer’s 90-minute Session

Each 90-minute session costs $50.00. After payment, you will be emailed a receipt. Please keep your receipt handy to present it to a staff member while in the district. You do not need to schedule with Old Salem for a photo session - come when you can.

Multiple photographers are allowed at the same time because there are so many places to photograph. Please respect one another. Commercial photographers attempting to take photoshoots without a permit will be asked to leave.

Old Salem Museum & Gardens and MESDA will not close Heritage Bridge or ticketed venues to ticketed customers or the general public, or remove signage, during your photography sessions.

Public visitation hours are Wednesday through Saturday 10:00AM to 4:00PM.

During the Holidays clients highly desire photos at Heritage Bridge! There is a high influx of visitors during those hours, or shortly after we close. Photographers can expect high volume crossings by visitors on Heritage Bridge between the hours of 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 3:00 – 4:00 PM.

Avoid traffic: Ideal days are Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (there are no public restrooms available on these days)

Review the full photography policy before attending.

Homeschool Days

Homeschool Day 2024

Old Salem is pleased to welcome homeschoolers year-round. After all, who better can appreciate the Moravian education philosophy that “all play has purpose” than our homeschooling friends! So, bring the education outside of your four walls on any of our regular days of operation, or you can take advantage of our specific Homeschool Days. Homeschool days are designed with a different flow in mind, to specifically accommodate your smaller groups. On these days, home schoolers receive the same group tours rates that larger field trip groups receive, and you can avoid the crowds of bus-driven school groups. We are here for you, to aid your exploration of all the cross-curricular connections that our local history can hold. So come see us on Homeschool Days at Old Salem! A typical visit lasts 2.5 to 3 hours. Old Salem's visitation hours are 10 AM to 4PM, and you may arrive and leave at any point during the day.

Tickets are only valid for one day, if you cannot attend on February 28th Homeschool Day, you have the option to visit on May 8th Homeschool Day or the May 24th Homeschool Day.
